chain mail- thousands of tiny metal rings

plate armor- pieces of armor put together to make a type of metal shell 

armor material- made of  fabric,leather, metal, or a mixture of all 3. It could also be made out of horn, plastic, or wood.

Soldiers had horses, and the horses. The horses sometimes had armor to protect themselves also. The men who rode the horses had the job of protecting their horse. If the man's horse died during the battle, the soldier would then be stuck having to walk his way home.
