                                                               Farming in the Middle Ages by Seth Dykstra

 

 

  In the MIddle Ages, this is what tilling fields would look like.

In the Middle Ages, crops included:

  • wheat 
  • beans
  • barley
  • peas
  • oats

 

Planting seed

Farmers would use "beasts of burden", like oxen or horses, to do work that was too much  for them.   
  Some tools that were used to farm were the scythe, shears, sickle, spade, wheeled plow, and winnowing basket.
